Want to lose weight?

When you want to lose weight, cutting down on carbohydrate consumption, especially from cereals such as bread, pasta or rice, may seem like the quickest solution, but many nutritionists and health experts warn of the lack of viability of this long-term approach.

Of course, processed carbohydrate sources should be cut off from the diet when you want to lose weight, but whole wheat bread (once or twice a day) and whole grain rice and pasta do not have to disappear from your diet.

Want to lose weight?

Before cutting into your diet, start applying simple strategies that, according to Women's Health USA, can help you lose weight:

  • Eat more slowly. Each meal should take at least 20 minutes, so that your metabolism is triggered and you realize when it is full, otherwise you can eat more than you need and end up feeling stuffy and with extra calories that will only accumulate.
  • Eat consciously. Being attentive to everything you eat, avoiding eating for addiction or to entertain yourself can save you many extra calories you would ingest unnecessarily.
  • Do not restrict, replace. Instead of cutting out completely on carbohydrates and sugars, replace the former with whole carbohydrates and the latter with natural sources of sugar, such as fruit or honey. So your body will not feel the lack of these substances.
  • Make snacks, but in a smart way. Even healthy, snacks are quite addictive, so try to get them in the right dose or consume them along with other things that fill you up more. For example, instead of carrying a packet of almonds or walnuts and ending up with a few hours to eat, take only five or six almonds or walnuts and combine them with a Greek yogurt and cinnamon. You will not feel the need to eat more.
  • It revolves your stress. Too much stress and lack of sleep form the perfect recipe for weight gain, so try to make your management the best you can.
