Do you know what the best exercise is to get defined abs?

Experts at the prestigious Harvard Institute suggest in a publication that planks should be made instead of the abdominals to strengthen the abdominals and back and improve balance.

The plank is an exercise that consists of keeping oneself on the hands and feet while keeping face facing the floor in a pre-flex position.

Unlike the abdominals, which target only the abdominal muscles, the planks work several muscle groups, both the sides of the body as the front and the back.

"Abstinals only strengthen a few muscle groups," write the authors of the Harvard Healthbeat newsletter, according to Business Insider. In addition to the fact that the abdominal exercises train few muscles, they can be especially 'hard' for certain parts of the body, such as the neck and back, and when they are poorly performed, besides pain, they can even cause injuries.

Are you ready to try out the planks?

Begin by lying on your stomach, with your legs extended and your elbows bent, then place your hands under your shoulders and keep your elbows shoulder-width apart.

Place your feet at the width of your hips, tighten your abdomen, and bend your toes to raise your body, keeping your forearms on the floor.

Attention: your body should be parallel to the ground, in a straight line from your head to your feet. Begin by holding this position for a minute and as you gain strength try to increase the time and stretch your arms, holding with your palms.
